LIBRARY SERVICES
The JBI Library is an independent and free library for the visually impaired, blind, physically disabled and reading disabled that produces books of Jewish and general interest in Audio, Large Print and in Braille. The Library serves eligible individuals of all ages and backgrounds all over the world.
CIRCULATING LIBRARY
- The Barbara and Stephen Friedman Talking Books Library offers audio books in the following languages: English, Russian, Spanish, Yiddish, Hebrew, Hungarian, Romanian and Polish. The Talking Books Library has over 13,000 titles.
- The Large Print Library offers a diverse collection of Large Print titles.
- The Braille catalog contains more than 8,500 titles.
- JBI is an Affiliated Library of the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS).
CATALOGS
- The online catalog of circulating books is updated regularly and includes a short annotation for every title. JBI also offers printed catalog updates to registered patrons.
AUDIO AND BRAILLE MAGAZINES
- periodicals of Jewish and general interest
- "The JBI Voice," a compendium of articles drawn from a wide variety of publications
CULTURAL PROGRAMS
- The monthly Cultural Series offers concerts, lectures, drama and poetry
EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS
- JBI produces individualized educational materials for all denominations in Braille, Large Print and Audio for students of all ages.
LITURGICAL, BIBLICAL AND LIFECYCLE MATERIALS
- JBI offers liturgical and life-cycle materials in Braille, Audio and Large Print.
ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION
- Anyone who is visually impaired, blind, physically disabled or reading disabled is eligible to receive our free services.
